The Hundreds Years' War lasted for more than one hundred years from 1337 to 1453. The war broke out in 1340. France fought against England in the war. The war had many causes but some were, that the king of France wanted control of land in southern France claimed by the king of England. Another cause of the war to start was that the French king made the English angry which also started the war. The English armies gained control of much of France in 1422.
